Reduced Transportation Costs

Transport represents about 21% of production costs, as the convenient and centralised location of production provides an ideal route to major markets in Melbourne and sydney, and efficient transport between locations between production seasons.

As renewable energy is generated onsite, it minimizes carbon impacts of energy generation and gas extraction along with transportation impacts.

Saves Land
& Energy Consumption

The glasshouse system successfully utilizes less space to produce more efficiently. Tomatoes grown in CEA produce 76kg/m 2 compared with 18kg/m 2 grown in the field – leading to a 422% higher yield.

The glasshouse uses a renewable energy source converting waste through the anabolic digester to produce CO 2, electricity and heating reducing the need for excessive external energy.

Reduced Food Wastage
& Pesticide Use

The glasshouse features a 4 x reduction in food lost between paddock to packaging in addition to 30,000 tonnes of organic waste recycled per annum. The glasshouse utilizes anerobic digestion to convert waste to energy, feeding CO 2 back into the glasshouse

Alongside the closed loop water system, the glasshouse has significantly reduced pesticides usage in a closed loop environment, also elimating the reliance on specific seasons to make high quality produce.

Reduced Water Usage

CEA per 1kg of tomatoes require under 15 litres compared with traditional field growing of beween 60-100 litres. Ttalynhub will capture water from the greenhouse, from growing and packaging which will be re-used in production. This avoids potential for pesticides used typically in field production from leaching into waterways or environment

Minimising an over excessive use of water has the additional benefit of preventing the produce from containing extra water. This allows for the creation of the best possible produce, maintaining its classic taste and high quality.
